Poll Watch:  Week 9 2017

USF has posted their first loss of the season, breaking the nation leading streak of 12 straight wins and dropping them out of the AP Poll for the first time in 11 months.

Congratulations to RaginBull76, who has broken up the McBomba duopoly with a win in the Pick 'em and Predict 'em game!  Ragin was the only one to call the Houston win, which isn't a big surprise considering that USF was undefeated and a favorite in the game.

It was a crazy finish to a game that USF never trailed in until the final score.  Houston was up against a wall with a 4th and 24 to go on their own 37 yard line, down three points to the Bulls, 24-21.  In a miracle catch by Courtney Lark for 30 yards in a sea of green uniforms, the Cougars dug themselves out and gave themselves a short field for a relatively easy go-ahead score to seal the victory.

Sometimes, just winning isn’t enough.  Such is the case in this week’s USF Poll Watch.

Congratlations to McIntyre2K7, who has won his fourth Pick 'em and Predict 'em contest this season!  He has taken the lead over TheBombasticBull, who has three wins on the season.  JupiterBull had the second closest variance of 13 points, versus McIntyre2K7's 7 point difference.  Please post your predictions for the Houston game on this posting so it isn't missed.  Good luck!

USF Bulls hold of late surge of Green Wave, beat Tulane, 34-28

It was a classic case of two halves when the USF Bulls beat the Tulane Green Wave, 34-28 on Saturday night.  USF was dominant in the first half and seemed to take their foot off the pedal midway through the third quarter, when they had a 34-7 lead over Tulane.  That lead wasn’t enough to defeat the Tulane spirit and they took advantage of the softened defense and USF’s apparent contentment to run out the clock.

It was a big weekend of upsets in the top 25 polls, and USF rose in most ranking systems as a result.

Congratulations once again go out to TheBombasticBull, who has won his third week of the Pick 'em and Predict 'em game!  In second place for Week 7 is McIntyre2K7, who also has three wins on the season.  If you'd like to predict for the Tulane game, please post your predictions here.

It is rare to think of a win in any sport as being disappointing.  If there is such a thing as a disappointing win, then this was it, based on remarks from USF's coaching staff.  Tonight’s matchup between the Cincinnati Bearcats and the USF Bulls was a will of dueling defenses and field goal kickers, which the Bulls won convincingly, 33-3.
